SERVICES
Discover the Good News contained in God's Word, the Bible:
When God created the world along with the first man and woman, He was able to declare that everything was very good. However, Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and so sin came into the world.
'Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.' Romans 5v12
Everyone is born with a sinful nature which separates us from God and makes us unfit for Heaven.
'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' Romans 3v23
It has always been God's desire to have a relationship with mankind, so He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to pay the price of sin. This He did when He suffered a cruel death by crucifixion. It seems so unfair because Jesus had lived a perfect life and, as the Son of God, could not sin. God laid on His Son the punishment that our sin deserved.
'...Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.' 1Timothy 1v15
The good news of the Bible is that it was all part of God's wonderful plan to make it possible that our sins could be forgiven. Everyone who accepts that the death of Jesus was payment for their sin and, by faith, places their complete trust and confidence in God's Son, turning away from sin, will receive forgiveness and eternal life.
'For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3v16

BREAKING OF BREAD
This is a quiet time of remembrance shared by those who are in fellowship at the Orton Gospel Hall. The meeting is led by the Holy Spirit and will consist of prayers, singing hymns, worship, reading the Bible and thoughtful contemplation of the death of the Lord Jesus.
In obedience to the teaching of Scripture, the men take the public and speaking role whilst the ladies worship silently with their heads covered.
'Let your women keep silent in the churches.' 1Corinthians 14v34
During this time we particularly remember the death of God's Son as He paid the penalty of sin in order to make it possible for us to have our sins forgiven and to receive eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
'For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.' 1Corinthians 11v26
We hold this time of remembrance on the first day of the week, following both the Lord's command and the practice of the early Christians.
'Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread...' Acts 20v7
We would appreciate that any Christian visitors, who have been baptised by emersion, would bring a letter of commendation from their own church or assembly so that we can be sure we are of the same mind.
